Disabled Members Committee AGM

6 December 2021 1:00pm–2:30pm

Online Meeting

The AGM will now take place at 1pm on Monday 6 December.

The deadline to register to attend the AGM and submit nominations, motions and election statements has been extended to 5pm on Friday 19 November.

This is because we were informed that due to some technical issues, a number of members had not received previous emails.

In order to ensure that all disabled members in the South East have the opportunity to participate fairly and democratically in their self organised group, we have agreed to extend the deadlines to register to attend the AGM and stand in elections, and to move back the date of the AGM.

If you or your branch have previously submitted delegates, nomination forms etc, then you do not have to do anything further.

Everything you need to know, including details on registering to attend, nominating members for election, and submitting motions for debate, can be found below.

NEW AGM DETAILS
WHEN: 1.00pm – 2.30pm on Monday 6th December 2021
WHERE: The meeting will be held online using Microsoft Teams.

Holding our meeting online means that this could potentially be the biggest Disabled Members AGM we’ve ever held in the region.

I hope to see you there.

Danny Sweeney
Disabled Members Committee Secretary | UNISON South East

AGM ATTENDANCE
All delegates and visitors to the Disabled Members AGM 2021 must themselves be disabled UNISON members from the South East region.

Branches are invited to register up to five AGM delegates who will be able to participate in the election for contested positions and vote on key items of business.

If your branch has an established Disabled Members Self-Organised Group, they should be asked to participate in this. All Disabled Members SOG members in your branch should be given equal opportunity to put themselves forward.

The new deadline for registering your delegates is 5pm on Friday 19 November.

Additionally, any Disabled members who are not delegates are invited to attend the AGM as virtual visitors. The deadline for visitors registering to attend is also now Friday 19 November.

All registered delegates and visitors will now receive a link to the meeting and paperwork for the AGM by email on Monday 22 November.

ELECTIONS
Branches and individual Disabled SOG members are invited to submit nominations to the Regional Disabled Members committee as well as various internal and external bodies, which will be elected at the AGM.

If you would like to nominate to any of these roles, candidates must be nominated by their branch or by at least one Disabled SOG member. All nominees must themselves be disabled UNISON members from the South East region.

You can find more information about the various elected posts and committees on our regional website or email me with any questions you have.

Candidates will be asked to submit an election address of up to 500 words.

The deadline for nominations and for election addresses to be received is now 5pm on Friday 19 November.

For any contested posts, all registered delegates will receive voting papers in advance of the AGM. The ballot will close before the meeting.

The results of any ballots and any uncontested posts will then have their elections ratified at the AGM.

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
UNISON recognises that in order for our members to fully participate, it may be necessary to make some adjustments so that we can ensure, so far as is reasonably practical, that everyone has the same opportunity to take part across our structures. For more on this, please see UNISON’s guidelines for virtual meetings.

If you require any adjustments to be made to facilitate your participation in a virtual meeting, please complete the Access Passport and return to committee administrator Lesley Watts is now 5pm on Friday 19 November 2021.

If you have previously completed an access passport and require adjustments for this meeting, please complete a new version of the passport and return it to me as soon as possible because of the differing requirements from a physical meeting compared to one being held online.
