This course is aimed at stewards and branch officers that may have to face the challenge of dealing with members who ahve mental health problems.

  • Examine what we mean by ‘mental illness’
  • Look at what employers can do to maintain mental health at work
  • Common signs and symptons of poor mental health at work
  • Strategies for intervention and support
  • Stress in the workplace and strategies for coping with stress

The course is aimed at Stewards and Branch Officers that may have to face the challenge of dealing with members that have mental health problems.

This course aims to:

  • Examine what we mean by ‘mental illness’
  • Look at what employers can do to maintain mental health at work
  • Identify some of the common signs and symptoms of poor mental health in the workplace
  • Discuss and explore strategies for intervention and support for members experiencing mental ill health
  • Understand what causes stress for us in our union roles
  • Review strategies for coping with stress
