The 2021 Regional Retired Members AGM will take place on Thursday 9th December. Due to continuing precautions around the coronavirus we will again be meeting online.

In order to accommodate this and ensure that members in the South East have the opportunity to participate fairly and democratically, we have made some slight changes to the normal processes and timescales.

Everything you need to know, including details on registering to attend, nominating members for election, and submitting motions for debate, can be found below.

WHEN: 11.00am–12.30pm on Thursday 9th December 2021

WHERE: The meeting will be held online using Microsoft Teams.

You will receive a link to the meeting once you have registered as a branch delegate.

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

Microsoft Teams can be accessed on a computer, tablet or mobile phone. It can be accessed through most internet browsers, but you may wish to install the application beforehand.

Please click here for full information on how to access a meeting using Teams.

If you are unable to access Teams, then you can ‘dial in’ to the meeting using a phone number and code. Please advise committee administrator Cath Still as soon as possible if this applies to you.

All delegates to the Retired Members AGM 2021 must themselves be retired UNISON members from the South East region.

Branches are invited to register up to five AGM delegates who will be able to vote on key items of business.

If your branch has an established Retired members’ section, they should be asked to participate in the AGM. All Retired members in your branch should be given equal opportunity to put themselves forward. Branches are also able to register visitors.

The deadline for registering your delegates or visitors is 5pm on Thursday 18 November.

All registered delegates and visitors will receive a link to the meeting and paperwork for the AGM by email by 24 November.

Branches are invited to submit nominations to the Regional Retired Members committee which will be elected at the AGM.

If you would like to nominate to any of these seats, candidates must be nominated by their branch. All nominees must themselves be retired UNISON members from the South East region.

You can find more information about the various elected posts and committees on our regional website or email us with any questions you have.

Candidates will be asked to submit an election address of up to 200 words.

The deadline for nominations and for election addresses to be received is 5pm on Thursday 18 November 2021.

For any contested posts, branches with retired member sections will receive voting papers in advance of the AGM. The ballot will close before the meeting.

The results of any ballots and any uncontested posts will then have their elections ratified at the AGM.

UNISON recognises that in order for our members to fully participate, it may be necessary to make some adjustments so that we can ensure, so far as is reasonably practical, that everyone has the same opportunity to take part across our structures. For more on this, please see UNISON’s guidelines for virtual meetings.

If you require any adjustments to be made to facilitate your participation in a virtual meeting, please complete the Access Passport and return to committee administrator Cath Still by 5pm on Thursday 18 November 2021.
If you have previously completed an access passport and require adjustments for this meeting, please complete a new version of the passport and return it to me as soon as possible because of the differing requirements from a physical meeting compared to one being held online.
