Older women (55-64) are the fastest growing section of the workforce. Yet, women’s experiences of menopause transitions are often a taboo subject and very little support is provided in workplaces.
This workshop will be an opportunity to share experiences of employer attitudes and discuss ways in which unions can affect workplace policies around Menopause Transitions.
TUC Education are working with the University of Bristol, University of Leicester and the Open University to find out more about the kinds of issues women have in the workplace and how unions might support those women. Part of the project will be to carry out a survey.
We are running workshops around the UK during the autumn to try and explore case studies and to raise awareness, as well as normalising the discussions.
You will be asked to complete our Menopause in the workplace eNote before you come along and to bring along any policies your employer or union already have and any examples of issues where you work.
There are no course fees for union reps from TUC affiliated unions, but your branch will need to cover the cost of travel and subsistence. Lunch will be provided.
