With 2026 being the year UNISON Year of Green Activity we will be hosting a 2-day course for Environment Representatives on 8-9 June 2026 at University of Brighton.
The job of trade union Environmental Officer involves representing the workforce in discussions and negotiations regarding the development and implementation of company / employer environmental policies and practices. Environment (or Green) Reps support this activity across a branch. We are very happy to invite both holders of these roles, and those interested in finding out more, to attend.
The course content will include:
- Inequality and the impact of Climate Change
- UNISON policy and the role of the environmental officer/green rep
- Branch Organisation
- Understanding sectoral impacts of climate change
- Developing a strategy to approach the employer and formulating a plan
- Developing a just transition agreement with the employer
- Building alliances with external organisations
