While our Area Organisers can be required to work in any team; the initial focus of the work for this post will be as part of the Regional Secretariat. Responsibilities will include work with the Regional Council, Regional Committee and other Regional lay Groups and Committees, supporting the Regional Management Team and taking a leading role in delivering the Regions communications strategy.
You need to be an enthusiastic, flexible and resourceful individual to support our growing organisation. The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role and be able to develop and deliver recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns in our branches, train and develop stewards, undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and stewards in representation and negotiation.
You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper.
A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential along with a good understanding of UNISONs policies and objectives.
You will be required to live within reasonable travelling distance of the Guildford office.
