Heartfelt thanks from Milton Keynes Food Bank and UNISON

On 30 and 31 August UNISON held collections for MK Food Bank at sites across the town

A big thank you to everyone at Milton Keynes Area branch who came along to UNISON’s information stall and contributed to the collections for the MK Food Bank during our ‘Bring a can to work’ days on 30th and 31th August.

The collection at MK Civic Offices raised over 42kg of food and toiletries whilst at Saxon Court we collected more than a whopping 120kg plus £20 cash.

Julie Trundell, Local Organiser for UNISON Milton Keynes Area Branch said “we were blown away by the generous donations from colleagues at Civic Offices and Saxon Court. At a time when we are seeing so many families and individuals needing help from Food Banks up and down the country, including some of our own members, we wanted to do something to help our local food bank here in MK.”

The Milton Keynes Food Bank currently supplies around 1,000 food parcels every month to those in need, who have been referred to the Food Bank by a referral agency (including by colleagues in the Council). All of these generous donations will help the Food Bank to continue providing such a valuable service to those in need in MK.

Lots of people asked if UNISON will be repeating the collection in Saxon Court and this is something we are hoping to do again in November, so keep your eyes peeled for more information.
