“Without this support, I’m not sure I’d be as strong as I am today”

A UNISON member from South East Energy branch extended her thanks to her UNISON branch and There for You, after receiving a grant from the Covid-19 response fund.

“My name is Carolyne Picknell , I’ve worked For Edf for over 12 years now. The company has been fantastic in supporting me through working at home since March 2020. I am a single mother of one and for 5 years I have been a UNISON member. In December I suffered some financial difficulty which left me struggling. In January I tested positive for Covid. I contacted my UNISON Rep, Janet Troullos ,who has been so supportive to me and gave me the telephone number for the Covid Grant, she sent me the form and I filled this in with a copy of my tenancy agreement and my debts that I have and within one week I had an email to say that I had been accepted for the £500 grant .

“I was so grateful to UNISON and to my manager and Janet for all the emotional support and for all the help as I was able to pay my council tax and other debts that I have mounted up.

“I would highly recommend if you aren’t a member of UNISON to join them ,  without all the support through this difficult time I’m not entirely sure I would be as strong as I am today and for that I am very grateful.

“Thank you to Edf and UNISON for all the support I’ve had during a very difficult time in my life .

“Stay safe and join UNISON if you haven’t already! You never know when you may need them!!”

There for You would not be able to do this without support from you and your branch. UNISON branches donated a fantastic £384,287 in 2020.

But with 2021 set to be more difficult still, we’re asking your branch if you can help our members and make a donation?
