JFC was set up in 2002 by the British trade union movement to support Colombian civil society in its struggle for human rights, labour rights, peace and social justice.
JFC promotes links of solidarity between British and Irish trade unions and organisations in Colombia and gives a political voice internationally to Colombian civil society through our work in the British, Irish and EU Parliaments.
JFC was directly involved in supporting the Havana Peace Process between the Colombian government and the FARC-EP.
Colombia has its general election in May this year. While the progressive and pro-trade union candidate Iván Cepeda is polling strongly, he faces a hostile far-right that will do anything to undermine peace and social justice.
Furthermore, Donald Trump has been extremely aggressive towards Colombia in recent months, falsely accusing President Petro of drugs trafficking and threatening to attack the country. Here is a recent JFC article with more details.
