South East Higher Education Service Group AGM 2024

Members working in Higher Education in the region are invited to join us for the 2024 AGM.  I am pleased to inform you that the Regional Higher Education Service Group AGM will be taking place this year in-person.

AGM Registration
Your branch is invited to nominate delegates to the AGM who will then become the Regional Higher Education Committee for 2024/25. The deadline for registering your delegates is 5pm on 26 March 2024.

Each branch with HE members is entitled to the following number of delegates to the meeting:

  • Up to 199 HE members – up to 2 representatives
  • Up to 349 HE members – up to 3 representatives
  • 350 HE members and above – up to 4 representatives

Nominations for elected positions
Members registered for the AGM can also be nominated to the following HE Committee officer roles and other elected positions as follows:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Representative to the National HE Standing Orders Committee (x1)
  • Representatives to the Regional Committee (x2 of which 1 must be a woman)
  • Representative to the Education, Training and Development Committee (x1)* See note below
  • Representative to the Finance Committee (x1)* See note below
  • Representative to the Publicity and Campaigning Committee (x1)* See note below

NOTE
The HE Committee is entitled to elect one delegate to each of the following important regional committees:

  • Education, Training and Development (ET&D) plans a programme of activist education and is responsible for overseeing member recruitment, organising and branch democracy and governance.
  • Finance Committee is accountable to the Regional Council for all finances in the region relating to the lay member budget. It produces and monitors the regional budget, and reports to the Regional Council regularly.
  • Publicity and Campaigning (P&C) is responsible for the focus and direction of regional campaigning and communications work (including the regional website) and adjudicates on bids made by branches and other groups to the General Political Fund, the Campaign Outreach Fund, the Regional Campaign Fund, and the Regional Pool.

Candidates will be able to submit a 250 word election address (if they wish) by 5pm on 26 March 2024

Submit an Election Address

All registered delegates will receive voting papers for contested elections in advance of the AGM and to be returned before the AGM. These elections will be ratified at the AGM. Please note that nominations will not be accepted from the floor, if there are any vacancies following the AGM these will be re-circulated.
