MK Area Branch is a local government branch with several thousand members. The Area Organiser will focus both on schools in the area, working with a local organiser and the other employers in the branch.
The Area Organiser will recruit both members and stewards. You will also undertake case work, advise, support and mentor branch officers and stewards in representation and negotiation.
You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper. Proven organising, campaigning, administrative and IT skills.
A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential along with a good understanding of UNISON’s policies and objectives.
You will need to be able to travel within the region and occasionally to London and locations in the South East for meetings/training as required. You will be required to live within a reasonable distance of Milton Keynes where the post is based.
The role is for 3 days a week, to be worked flexibly, for a 12 month period.
