Canterbury City UNISON: International Women’s Day Event

Linda Elvin and Natalia Sukhram of Canterbury City local government branch are still fairly new to being active in UNISON.

They have attended the regional women’s forum for the last couple of years, attended national women’s conference for the first time in February and have completed a number of the courses in the Branch Women’s Officer Passport.

Both Natalia and Linda organised a recruitment event for International Women’s Day which went really well – not least for the chocolate fountain!

Linda said

“I think we did well. I have the details of someone who is keen to get more involved in the branch which is great”.

Natalia and Linda are also currently planning a local leadership training course as part of their plans of continuing to increase the participation of women and to enable women to feel confident about standing for branch executive roles in the future.
