Women’s History Course Part 1

This course is open to all women members who are interested in learning more about the history of women’s struggle for equality. This course will look at some of the many women’s rights campaigns led by the women of the first wave feminist movement. This course will also give you the opportunity to examine the legacies of the first wave feminists and how those legacies benefit the lives of women today. Women make up half of the population and half the workforce of the UK and the course will also explore the relationship and history of women workers and the trade union movement.

This course will cover:

  • First wave feminism and the women’s suffrage campaign
  • Women’s history timeline
  • Culture, women and society
  • Stereotyping and misinterpretation of women in the media
  • Women and Institutions – the balance of power in society
  • A brief history of women workers and trade unions
