Professional services staff at the University of Sussex started 48 hours of strike action today (Wednesday) in a dispute over pay.

The strike was brilliantly supported and workers made their point about the need for a fair pay rise loud and clear!

UNISON Regional Organiser Caroline Fife was at the picket lines supporting staff and what used to be known as tweeting throughout the day.

The sun was shining and striking workers got lots of support from the passing public.

Sussex is one of 22 universities across the UK who have voted for industrial action and more strikes are possible unless a revised pay offer is forthcoming.

We even had a few unexpected visitors joining us on the picket lines!

Colleagues at the University of Leeds were also on strike today as part of the same dispute. Solidarity and best wishes to everyone taking action for fair pay!
