UNISON secures up to an 11.4% pay increase for SGN Staff

The union has negotiated an inflation linked, three-year pay deal, for SGN workers

Members of UNISON, the UK’s largest trade union, have agreed a three-year pay deal with Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) Ltd that will see the lowest paid staff receiving a pay increase of up to 11.4% this year.

The union has negotiated a three-year union pay deal which will be backdated to April 2022. The deal covers over 1,700 employees and was overwhelmingly accepted by UNISON members.

As a result, SGN UNISON members will see their pay increase by at least 8.2%, including a special cost-of-living uplift in October 2023. The deal also introduces a new operational allowance for field-based staff, who often work unsocial or additional hours.

Years 2 and 3 of the pay deal have been inflation linked to ensure UNISON members’ pay keeps pace with inflation.

UNISON regional organiser Dominic Rothwell said:

“This much needed and well-deserved increase to pay will help UNISON members keep pace with increasing living costs and provides protection should costs continue to rise.

“More importantly, the award delivers addition support to the low paid workers with who are disproportionately impacted by inflation.

“The pay deal has been overwhelmingly endorsed by members and is a fantastic result for all staff.”
